Who I Am

Real McCoy Soaps was born from a simple belief: what we put on our skin should be honest, wholesome and thoughtfully made.

Based in Rifle, Colorado on the Western Slope, my soaps are handcrafted in small batches and inspired by the rugged beauty of the Roaring Fork Valley and the traditions of simpler times. Living in Western Colorado has a way of reminding you that nature doesn’t need improvement—it just needs respect.

When I first began making soap, I was fascinated by the creativity of modern soapmaking—the colors, swirls, and beautiful designs. I still enjoy creating those fun, artistic bars today. But along the way, I found myself increasingly drawn to the old ways of soapmaking.

Long before factory-made soaps filled store shelves, families made their own soap using simple ingredients they trusted—things like lard, honey, milk, herbs, and clays. Those traditional methods created hardworking, skin-loving bars that people relied on every day.

That heritage has become an important part of what I do.

Many of my soaps now lean toward those time-tested ingredients and traditional processes. Some are inspired by old remedies, others by memories—gardens, summer rain, fresh linens, campfires, and the small moments that stay with us.

Every bar I make is still crafted by hand, in small batches, with the same care and attention I would give to something made for my own home. Real McCoy soaps are made with carefully selected ingredients that reflect both tradition and quality. My recipes often include classic soapmaking oils and butters such as olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and lard, along with natural additions like raw local honey, goat’s milk, clays, botanicals, and essential oils. By combining traditional soapmaking methods with thoughtfully chosen ingredients, I create handmade soaps that are simple, honest, and inspired by the natural beauty of Western Colorado.

Whether it’s a colorful modern design or a simple rustic bar made the old-fashioned way, my goal is the same: to create soaps that are genuine, nourishing, and worthy of the name Real McCoy.

Because sometimes the best things are still made the way they used to be.
